[humming melodically] It is truly the most wonderful time of the year.
I'm Samantha Jones from KMOV TV in Saint Louis, and I'm pleased to join the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America, from Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, as we welcome you to The Spirit of the Season.
For the next half hour, we invite you to be a part of the Air Force family, as we celebrate the holidays with some music that captures the excitement of the season.
So grab the family, get cozy, as we listen to a song that goes back generations.
One, two... [bright jazz music] Rockin' around the Christmas tre at the Christmas party hop.
Mistletoe hung where you can see every couple tries to stop.
Rockin' around the Christmas tre let the Christmas spirit ring.
Later we'll have some pumpkin pi and we'll do some caroling.
You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear, voices singing “Let's be jolly deck the halls with boughs of ho Rockin' around the Christmas tre have a happy holiday.
Everyone dancing merrily in a new old-fashioned way.
[crowd cheering] [bright jazz music] [crowd cheering] [bright jazz music] You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear, voices singing “Let's be jolly deck the halls with boughs of ho Rockin' around the Christmas tre have a happy holiday.
Everyone dancing merrily in a new old-fashioned way!
[crowd applauding] The holidays are a time to come together and celebrate the joys of our world.
From the things that connect us to the things that make us different, we all have our own holiday traditions, customs, and beliefs, and the holidays are a perfect time to celebrate that diversity.
One of the many observances this time of year is the Jewish Festival of Hanukkah, also called The Festival of Lights, which celebrates the reclaiming of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.
Hanukkah's message is a celebration of resilience and reminds us that even in the darkest times, we can overcome the most difficult circumstances.
Let it snow... Yeah.
Let it snow... It's another Christmas holiday.
It's a joyous day, let the angels sing, ‘cause we're together.
And we gotta thing here, I cant let it slip away.
Though outside, it's rain and sleet when our bodies meet I don't care about the weather.
Let it Snow.
Let it Snow.
Outside its cold, but the fire's blazing.
So baby, let it snow.
Let it snow.
Let it snow!
Let it snow.
Come over here and help trim the tree.
Yeah.
Wanna wrap you up, baby, then you'll see you're the only present I need.
There's so much more waiting for you.
And so from this precious day I can gladly see, there's no place that Id rather be.
Oh, I know that you, my everything, come a little closer.
God must have sent you from heaven.
Let it snow.
Let it snow.
Outside its cold, but the fires blazin so baby, let it snow.
Let it snow.
Let it snow.
Let it snow, let it snow.
Outside it's cold, but the fire's blazin, so baby, let it snow.
Let it snow.
Let it snow!
As we celebrate the spirit of Christmas we also want to recognize some of our nation's unsung heroes.
Military nurses who have often been symbols of hope for those far from home during the holidays.
From the trenches of World War I to the fields of Vietnam and now into the 21st century, their stories are a reminder that kindness and love can shine through even in the darkest of times.
Here to honor our nation's angels of the battlefield is the Midwest Winds Quintet with "Angels We Have Heard on High".
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one daywalk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would see the sons and daughters Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered will soon deliver you.
[Music] Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to our blind man Marydid you know that your baby would calm a storm with his hand Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby you kiss the face of God.
Mary did you know?
[Music] [Music continues] [Music continues] The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb.
Mary, did you know that your babyboy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your babyboy would one day rule all nations?
Did you know that your babyboy is heaven's perfect lamb?
That sleeping child you're holdi is the great "I Am."
[Music] Ahh, ooh [Music] Thank you for joining us to celebrate the holiday season.
We hope you and your loved ones have been filled with joy and good cheer.
To help bring in the upcoming new year, we'd like to leave you with one final holiday classic, performed by the Star Lifter rock band.
From the men and women at Scott Air Force Base, Air Mobility Command, and the United States Air Force, we wish you a wonderful Holiday Season and a happy New Year.
[cheerful music] Should auld acquaintance be forg and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forg for auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne, well take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne.
[instrumental music] [instrumental music continues] Should auld acquaintance be forg and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forg for auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne, well take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne.
